Large handwriting, printed books and Soviet-era files
This release grew almost entirely out of one letter. A researcher who in two weeks read more than 130,000 pages about Nikopol and its surroundings with Nyshporka, and shared more than 300 cases with Supriaha, wrote to tell us where things got in her way. Thank you!
Large handwriting in the cloud
Death certificates, forms and alphabetical indexes are often written in large letters. The machine split such a line into pieces of 3–5 letters, and the reading came out jumbled. On your own computer the line height --seg-height fixed this, and now you can set it in the cloud too:
nysh cloud go <справа> --seg-height 900
Such a re-reading is a separate reading. The previous text is not lost: it is kept alongside, and the new one starts clean.
Printed books
Books of Memory, martyrologies and voter lists are not newspapers: they have no issue numbers or dates. Now Nyshporka can read such a book separately with the print machine and share it with Supriaha:
nysh cloud go --print --book 1912 --vydannia IZBIR_EKAT "Список избирателей"
The number after --book is the year of publication. Each volume of a book gets its own code. In Supriaha such books appear marked "printed books".
Checking a single word
Most often a person checks a surname or patronymic against the scan, not the whole line. Now you can record it that way:
nysh note read <справа> <сторінка> --line 12 --word "Саєнко"
The rest of the line stays as the machine read it. If the word is difficult and the machine got it wrong, such a line helps to train the models.
Soviet-era files
New kinds of files have been added:
- files of the repressed;
- filtration files;
- minutes of meetings (executive committees, village councils);
- personal files.
Nyshporka recognizes them from the file's title, and you can also set the kind yourself: nysh case <тека> --type "фільтраційна справа". Such files can be shared with Supriaha. If a family asks us to remove a file about their relative, we will remove it.
Fixed
- Internet outage. If the internet dropped during a cloud reading, the machine could stay on, and you kept being charged for it. Now Nyshporka waits for the network and switches the machine off itself, and while there is no network it does not treat the machine as broken and does not take another one.
- Disk after the cloud. The copies of scans that Nyshporka prepares for the cloud no longer pile up: they are removed automatically after reading. What piled up earlier will be removed by
nysh disk clean --apply. - A file under the right reference code. If a reading had to be attached to a file by hand, both the search and the list of what has not yet been shared with Supriaha now take this into account.
How to update
nysh update or a new nyshporka-setup.exe over the old one. For reading in the cloud, the update installs the right plugin version by itself.
