How to work with Nyshporka — now on video
You can read the instructions, but what people asked us for most often was something else: "show me". What the installation looks like, what the assistant replies, where to click when it asks for permission, and what you finally get on screen — a report, clippings, a tree.
Now you can simply watch it all. The series of video lessons leads from the first launch to your first find in an old book and a family tree with evidence. Each lesson is 5–9 minutes, shown on screen without gaps, step by step.
All lessons are on the page nyshporka.online/en/uroky and in the playlist on YouTube.
Where to start
- New to Nyshporka — lesson 1, 7 minutes: what it is, what it is for and what you need to start.
- Want to see the result before installing anything — lesson 2.
- Installing for the first time — lessons 3–5 guide you step by step.
- Already using it — go straight to lesson 6.
Lesson 2: a report in one evening
A letter came in Romanian: help find two families from Bessarabia, from the villages of Dimitrovca and Gura Camencii. The task went to the assistant with Nyshporka, and in one evening there was a report: entries from the parish registers of the National Archives of the Republic of Moldova, the original text next to a translation, families built from baptism, marriage and death records, a map of the villages and a list of everything that was read and what is missing. The lesson walks through this report on screen.
What the lessons cover
Getting to know it
- What Nyshporka is — what it is for, how it works together with an assistant and what you need to start.
- What it can do — a report on two families from Bessarabia in one evening.
Installation
- Installation — Git and Nyshporka on Windows step by step, and what to do if something goes wrong.
- Codex and the working folder — the assistant app, signing in and a project linked to the Nyshporka folder.
- Setup through the assistant — the assistant checks and sets up Nyshporka itself; you only give permissions.
Research
- First research — from a surname and a village to the parish, its registers and what Supriaha has already read.
- The app — overview, the library of files and what the assistant is doing right now.
- Find and verify — a person in the books already read, and checking every candidate against the scan.
- Evidence with clippings — every fact in the tree gets a clipping from the scan, a reading and a translation.
- Family tree and family website — a family tree with evidence and a family website with a map, on your computer.
In other languages
The lessons are recorded in Ukrainian, and each has Ukrainian subtitles. We are adding Romanian subtitles lesson by lesson. For other languages YouTube translates the subtitles itself: ⚙ → "Subtitles" → "Auto-translate". Lesson titles and descriptions on YouTube are available in Polish, Romanian, German and French.
Next in the series
This is just the start. The next lessons: how to download a file from the internet, how to read files on your own computer and in the cloud, and how to share what you have read in Supriaha. To not miss them, subscribe to Nyshporka's YouTube channel.
